Those few days in Milan were very nice. We were very well welcomed by our new Italian friends. We left Milan, and headed for Cinque Terre. A regional parc, just one hour South East of Genoa, on the Italian west cost. This area is very mountainous, the road are tiny, with very tight bends, and crossing terrace fields, which makes the landscape even better. Some farmers house seemed very interesting. The villages are stuck between the rocks but still have a small access to the sea. The houses are build on the side of the mountain, and the steep streets go in between the houses. And the colors are amazing. Between the blue of the water, the grey of the rocks and the green from the plants, we could not be happier. And then you add some vivic colors from the houses, the atmosphere is atypical.
But once again we arrived at the wrong period. This region is very touristic and a lot of houses are weekend houses. Moreover, being X-Mas holidays a lot a person were on vacation with there family. All the interesting house that we saw were empty at the moment. So we enjoyed the landscape, had lunch on the beach and headed for Genoa.
We did not stay long in Genoa. After a small night walk in the old town, and a tour around the port renovated by Renzo Piano in 1992 we went to sleep. The next morning we tried to go and see his studio which is on the cost. Unfortunately we could access it. We only saw the cable car that leads to the Studio.
Italy was not a great success for our project. We found a lot of interesting houses but we never managed to enter any. So we left Genoa, heading for France hopping to see some interesting houses on the cost.
